Hello,
My name is Chester Gorman III but I prefer to be called Chad.
I’m glad you stopped by my little page here on the SGB site.
I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself and why you may want to consider my services as your Insurance Agent should the need arise.
First, About Me
I have been married to the same lovely lady for over 28 years. We were fortunate enough to have children, a boy and a girl, both over 23 years of age now.
My daughter wrestled to CIF on the boys wrestling team for Great Oak High School for 2 years. Before that she was a Cheerleader. She was also a Venture Scout and helped me run BSA Snow camps/Klondikes at Camp Helendade and Camp Emerson for many years.
My son has been playing classical guitar since elementary school. At 5 years old I agreed to be a Cubmaster and he joined Cub Scouts. He progressed to Eagle while I progressed to Scoutmaster. I also coached both kids in Soccer, AYSO and SWSC from U-5 to U-14, coaching both a Boys team and a Girls team then a co-ed team in the fall.
My Sports Activities and Favorite Teams
I played on the Adult softball league in OC, obtaining sponsorship from KNAC, we were “The Pure Rockers”, and winning the title two years in a row.
I am a California Master Angler and spent many years teaching inner city kids the joys of fishing and the outdoors. Usually we took 50-100 of them on day trips to stocked ponds but occasionally to weekend camp outs at Lake Silverwoods when my wife and kids would join me.
This program, Fishing in the City was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. That and Wounded Warriors Fishing, Scoutmaster and Soccer coach tie for top spot.
Hobby Activities
I am an avid kayak-er, fisherman, hunter, small boat sailor and scuba diver, those are my outdoor passions and my wife and I travel the world to enjoy them during our battery recharging excursions. I can no longer fly down a double diamond run and have had to tone it down a bit but we still have a great time exploring the world.
How I Became Involved in Financial Services
I owned a local business that paid a small fortune in insurance premiums. I sold that company and my wife suggested I get into the insurance business. A week later I was back in school, 2 years after that I possessed all insurance licenses for all lines of insurance and 4 insurance designations. Since that time I’ve honed my skills as a tenacious, responsive and nimble advocate for my clients.
I started my first business at 19 years old, not counting mowing lawns. My company leased or sold artwork to professional offices, doctors, lawyers and dentists. My first location was in Huntington Beach, my second location was in Houston Texas, Hurricane Alicia destroyed my gallery and I had failed to procure adequate and proper insurance. Learn from my bad example. Expect the Unexpected.
All of us at SGB Insurance are committed to “Service of Unequaled Excellence” and we want to help you preserve and protect your assets for years to come. This has been my goal for almost 20 years in the business, to help others and guide them to the proper coverage’s that will meet their needs.
I’ve yet to be stymied on preparing a coverage package that is apropos to the particular business, whether it be nuclear, demo, medical or heavy hauling. I have extensive experience protecting both middle market construction and transportation companies and multiple location main street businesses to manufacturing and engineering firms.
From a one-person operation to a 30-location chain, the focus will always be on how to best protect you. I also have nearly 20 years’ experience writing key man insurance and disability business succession insurance as well as group health. Should you company desire group health, I am available to meet with and answer questions from all your employees, in both Spanish and English.
Claims Assistance
I am especially effective in either closing out or reducing work comp claims. I have many recent successes where a business was unfairly impacted and by working with the claims adjuster and an occasional surveillance expert was able to prove fraud. I am well versed in claims handling, risk management, reporting, unit stat reports, EMR worksheets and working with the WCIRB to change incorrect classifications and save my clients Tens of thousands of dollars.
Most recently I negotiated a 140k annual work comp premium to 72k.
There’s carriers hot for your business and others that are not, my success is in knowing who is who.
My property casualty team includes myself, Judy Betts whom I’ve worked with off and on since around 2006 and Lia Contreras. The three of us have a cumulative 78 years of P&C experience.
Availability
My clients know that I am always available to them 24 hours a day via my cell phone.
In the Event of a Claim
I will move heaven and earth to be there for you. I have numerous local references who will gladly tell you of their claims experiences and how I helped both settle the claim and work with the contractors.
