Are there CoronaVirus Cases In Murrieta?
Murrieta Valley High School to be closed as employee is tested for CoronaVirus
A Murrieta Valley Unified School District campus will be closed Monday as an employee is being tested for the CoronaVirus disease and 71 students have been instructed to “self-quarantine,” Riverside County health officials announced late Friday night.
Murrieta Valley High School will remain closed, and the campus will be disinfected, until the testing of the employee is completed, according to a district statement.
It appears to be the first school closure in Southern California as of March 7th.
(10 days later; that is no longer the case.) Since local cases so far have been linked to travelers in areas with known cases of CoronaVirus, such as China or Italy, rather than “community spread,” officials so far have held off on more severe measures such as social distancing, canceling public events or closing campuses.

Riverside County Gets 2 Testing Centers
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — All schools in Riverside County have been ordered closed to step up the fight against the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser issued the order late Friday afternoon.
“To further prevent the spread throughout the county, effective Monday, March 16, I am ordering a school closure, not a dismissal, of all Riverside County public schools. This order also applies to preschools, charter schools, private schools and all colleges and universities in Riverside County,” Kaiser said.
“We applaud those school districts that have taken proactive choices to close their schools starting Monday, March 16, 2020, in order to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Riverside County,” Kaiser added.
Individual school districts will have the discretion to determine essential personnel to support critical functions within their districts.
Today’s order will be lifted on April 3 and classes will resume on April 6, unless another update is warranted before that time, Kaiser said.(See more on schools closures.)
